Triton 3, Tippecanoe Valley 2

Triton held off Valley Wednesday afternoon in Bourbon in a battle of backyard rivals.

Doubles play was key for the Trojans to move to 3-0 on the season, its No. 1 team of Emma Hepler and Lexia Hostrawser posting a two and four win against Mackenzie Costello and Kaitlin Neese. The No. 2 team of Cheyenne Hawley and Danica Kuntz also won in straight sets, one and two, putting away Bri Feldman and Kaydence Shepherd.

The 6-4, 6-4 win from Molly McFarland against Hannah Parson at No. 1 singles made three for the Trojans.

Valley’s pair of court wins in its season opener came at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, Gigi Engstrand fending off Madeline Ritchison 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4) and Peyton Oldham scoring a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win over Lilly Hubert.

Valley and Triton split the four JV courts. Valley won a pair of doubles matches, Triton won a doubles match and Jenna Bules claimed the lone singles court.
