Plymouth Girls 71, NorthWood 60
The Lady Panthers track team began their 2021 Northern Lakes Conference campaign at Plymouth on Tuesday night taking on the Pilgrims and the Mishawaka Lady Cavemen. Despite many competitive performances by NorthWood, the girls went 0-2 for the night, losing to Plymouth 71-60 and Mishawaka 72-60.
Kaitlin Burden had a stellar night, winning the 1600 meters (5:48.25), the 800 meters (2:39.79), and being part of the victorious 3200 meter relay (11:06.14) with Alea Minnich, Kendal Miller and Emilie Allen. Hannah Chupp won the 100 meter hurdles (17.33). and Iliya Smith won high jump (4-8).
The team moves to 1-2 on the season. The next meet is the Carmen Cripe Relays at Northridge on Saturday, April 18. Field events begin at 9 a.m., and running events at 11 a.m.
Concord Girls 107, Wawasee 24
Wawasee opened its girls track NLC slate by traveling north to Concord on Wednesday afternoon. The host Minutemen played inhospitable hosts, defeating their guests 107-24.
Warrior event winners were Bailey Mayhew in the 400, finishing in 1:04.86. Dylan Konieczny won two events, the 100 hurdles in 19.59 and the high jump, clearing 4-08.
“We had a rough night tonight,” said Warrior head coach Jose Lopez. “Coming back from spring break is always a rough week. I’m looking forward to improving in the next meet.”
The Lady Warriors will retake the oval on Tuesday, April 20, facing both Plymouth and Goshen on the RedHawks home track.
