NorthWood 3, Concord 2
NorthWood gathered its first Northern Lakes Conference win of the season in edging Concord in Dunlap.
Four of the five matches were one-sided on paper. NorthWood’s Britton Jesse beat Dani Aplin two and one, which Concord’s Maddie Copsey returned the favor against Ashlyn Feller. Both of the doubles courts were nearly mirrored as well, NorthWood’s Amy Adams and Emery Porter beating Maggie Burkert and Addi May one and one, and Concord’s Kate Steele and Gracie Westlake taking a love and one final over Paige Henschen and Kate Stillson.
In the only match that broke the surface, Gabriella Umbower won a first set tiebreaker 7-6 (4), then put away Concord’s Rylee Brenneman 6-3 in the second set to give NorthWood (1-1, 1-0 NLC) the team win.
NorthWood won all 10 of the JV courts, five in singles and five in doubles play.
