Residential Entry, Battery Results In Arrest

WARSAW — A Warsaw man faces charges after allegedly entering a residence without permission and punching a man.
Devin Stuart Gerding, 24, 318 N. Washington St., Warsaw, is charged with residential entry, a level 6 felony; battery with moderate bodily injuries, a level 6 felony; and battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On March 23, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a residential entry and battery complaint at a residence.
Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with the owner of the residence. The homeowner told the deputy Gerding entered the residence uninvited, without permission, through a bedroom window.
Once inside, Gerding reportedly struck a man at the residence several times.
The deputy observed and photographed an open window with curtains lying outside on the ground as well as a dusty handprint on the glass.
The deputy also photographed the victim, who had a swollen cheekbone and a bloody lip.
Gerding was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail on April 18 on a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
