NorthWood Baseball 10, Concord 0
The Panthers strung together enough over the course of the game to knock off the host Minutemen by double digits Thursday evening.
Logan Balasa led the Panthers (5-2, 1-0 NLC) with three hits and three RBI while Isaiah Yoder and Beau Stankovich added two hits apiece. Nate Newcomer reached base four times and drove in two.
Issac Roberts worked 5.2 innings, allowing three hits and fanning eight to get the victory for the Panthers.
Knox Baseball 13, Triton 2
Triton’s first game in a week saw the team fall to its Hoosier North Athletic Conference foes in Bourbon.
Five runs in the third and five more in the fifth gave the visitors enough to run-rule the Trojans.
Gavin Martinez, Zac Rose and Jacob Jensen all had two hits for the Redskins.
Triton got a run in the bottom of the first, an RBI single from Dominic Smith driving in Jacob Pitney. Evan Briles had Triton’s (0-4) other hit and run in the contest.
Manchester Softball 9, Triton 3
Avery Isley had a double and three RBI to lead the Lady Squires to a home win.
Torina Runkle added a two-run triple and Kindra Stetzel added two RBI in the victory.
Triton (3-5) only managed two hits and two walks against Isley, who struck out 10. Jolie Groves had the lone RBI for the Trojans.
NorthWood Softball 8, Concord 3
Morgan Jenkins pulled off a rare feat Thursday in helping her team to its first Northern Lakes Conference win at Concord.
Jenkins tripled and scored the go-ahead run in the seventh, only for Concord to tie the game at three in the bottom half of the inning. In the eighth, Jenkins sped around the bases to complete an inside-the-park home run, giving NorthWood a lead it wouldn’t lose.
Jenkins was 4-for-5 with three runs and five RBI in the game. Ashlyn Brooke added a double and run scored, and Autumn Miller pitched NorthWood (2-5, 1-0 NLC) to a win despite allowing 10 hits and eight walks.
Jazmin Flores had three hits and an RBI to pace Concord.
Northfield Softball 15, Tippecanoe Valley 8
A huge seventh inning helped the Norse pull away from Valley in Three Rivers Conference play.
Leading just 9-8 after Valley left the bases loaded in the sixth, the Norse responded with four singles and three walks to produce six runs and get the distance it needed to escape Akron with the win.
Addy Baker was 5-for-5 with a homer, four runs scored and three RBI and Jenna Kram was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three driven in to lead the Norse.
Corinna Stiles homered and drove in three for the Vikes (6-2, 0-1 TRC) while Abby Bowers, Molly Moriarty and Brittney Benn all had two hits.
