Fort Wayne Man Airlifted After Saturday Motorcycle Accident

WARSAW — A Fort Wayne man was airlifted from the scene of a motorcycle accident over the weekend.
Shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, April 24, dispatch received a report of an unwanted man at a Leesburg residence. As law enforcement units arrived in the area, the man fled on a motorcycle. Following a high speed pursuit, the motorcycle crashed while attempting to turn onto a Lake City Highway on-ramp from SR 15.
The man, John W. Wakefield, 26, Fort Wayne, complained of back pain and was airlifted from the scene to a Fort Wayne hospital.
This investigation is ongoing and alcohol is believed to be a factor.
Responding agencies include the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Warsaw Police Department, Winona Lake Police Department, Milford Police Department, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, Lutheran EMS and Parkview Samaritan Air Ambulance.
