Plow Days Held At Parker Farms In Claypool
News Release
CLAYPOOL — The Echoes of the Past held Plow Days at Parker Farms on State Road 15 in Claypool where 35 tractors participated, plowing and preparing 112 acres for planting.
The Echoes of the Past have held plow days for over 20 years. Most fields today use the no-till method for planting, so the art of the old fashion plow is slowing becoming a thing of the past.
Spectators at this year’s spring Plow Days were treated to some very unique tractors. A spectator from Missouri had driven to Claypool to catch a glimpse of a John Deere Diesel 830; another spectator from Peru had come to reminisce in the memories of the way farming used to be. There were several grandfather and grandchildren combinations working the field this year as well as many father and son teams, passing on the knowledge of working with the antique equipment and spending quality time together.
The group would like to thank the Tippecanoe Valley FFA chapter for providing lunch.
The next Echoes of the Past event will be at the Mentone Airport during the Egg Festival June 4 and 5, 2021. The group will be hosting a tractor, engine, garden tractor show and swap.
