WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested after allegedly battering a woman.
Karl Matthew Luu, 31, 1672 S. Country Club Road, Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present and strangulation, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On March 25, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s officer responded to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, the officer found a woman hiding inside a bedroom and said she had an altercation with Luu the previous night.
According to court documents, the woman said she had a verbal argument with Luu and went to a bedroom to get a child ready for bed. She said she fell asleep on the bed and was woken up by Luu to continue talking about the prior argument.
When the woman refused to continue the conversation, Luu allegedly pulled the woman off the bed, causing her to hit the floor. Luu then put his hands around the woman’s neck and yelled at the woman, threatening to take her children away. The reporting officer noticed red marks around the woman’s neck.
The officer spoke with Luu, who said he was in a verbal argument with the woman but that the altercation never became physical.
Luu was previously convicted of strangulation in Allen County in 2016. He has an initial hearing for this case at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 3.
