Whitko Announces Wildcat Royal Showmanship Winners
News Release
LARWILL — Whitko has announced the winners of its 2021 Wildcat Royal Showmanship Competition.
Isaac Irwin, Carle Sroufe, Maggie Clark and Hannah Thomas took top honors in the contest hosted by the Whitko Agricultural Department at the Whitko Career Academy on Monday, April 26. The students won for showing swine, sheep, goats and poultry respectively.
The annual in-house contest is held to introduce students to agriculture showmanship competitions and generate interest in agricultural programming at WCA.
The competition is judged by community members and past Whitko alumni who are actively involved in agricultural industries. This year’s judges included Jason Arnold for swine, Andy Bills for sheep and Dillon Sheiss for poultry and goats.
Judges focused on showmanship, which is based on a competitor’s ability to control and present their animal, bring out its best characteristics, make its faults less obvious to the judge and demonstrate overall knowledge of it.
Winning students were presented with wooden awards created by the WCA Mechanical Engineering Department led by Derrek Sorg.
