MILFORD — Residents in the main portion of Milford, including the downtown area, have not been affected by several utility poles being pulled down around 5 p.m. today, Sunday, May 16. There are 43 customers in the south portion of Milford affected.
Power is not expected to be restored until approximately 4 a.m. Monday, May 17, according to one resident on Turkey Creek Drive who notified NIPSCO.
Milford Fire Chief Virgil Sharp reported a tractor pulling a nine-row planter snagged an electrical wire on Old SR 15, near Turkey Creek Drive , pulling down the wire. That action resulted in two to three power poles being brought down with it. In addition to the electrical lines, Century Link telephone and internet service have also been interrupted.
NIPSCO crews are on the scene and are working to restore electricity.
Old SR 15, between Section Street and CR 1150N is closed to all traffic.
