Howk Nominated For Warsaw Assistant AD Spot
Press Release
WARSAW – Warsaw hopes to fill the void of the departing Roman Smith with Michael Howk, who has been selected to fill the assistant athletic director position pending WCS board approval.
Howk graduated with a BS in Athletic Training from Purdue in 2016 and with a Master’s in Sport Management from Baylor University in 2018. During his time at Baylor, Michael served at Bosqueville ISD where he became the first athletic trainer in the district and established the Sports Medicine Department, which is still in place today.
Most notably, Howk served as a part time assistant athletic director at Lakeland High School under Smith. While at Lakeland, Howk was able to gain valuable experience managing events and coordinating middle school athletics.
When asked about the opportunity Howk offered, “I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the staff at Warsaw. Moving to the Warsaw area last fall, we learned very quickly the caliber of community that Warsaw is.”
He has recently completed his RAA certification through the NIAAA, completing coursework focusing on Organizational Management and Foundations and Principles in Interscholastic Athletics.
Howk lives in Warsaw with his fiance, Alivia, and their dog, Oakley.
