Penn Edges Warsaw For Turner Title
It’s become an annual showdown at Tippy Lake Country Club. In the latest edition of the Bob Turner Classic golf invite, Penn edged Warsaw, 300-302, for the team title in a well-contested 18-hole shootout at the Leesburg club.
Penn and Warsaw both had their top four in the 70s, led by Ryan Hahaj’s medalist 70. Keenan Donze shot a 74, Jonah Kumfer had a 77 and Dylan Mounts added a 79 from the fifth spot for the Kingsmen.
Warsaw had Tucker Carlile and Jack Yeager led the Warsaw Black roster with 74s and Cal Hoskins one back at 75. Ben Brander had the fourth score at 79 and Jaxson Gould was a shot back at 80 with the fifth score.
Fort Wayne Dwenger was right in step with the leaders with a 305, and both NorthWood and Warsaw’s second team finished at 320. Wawasee had a 331 and Triton a 333, with Warsaw’s third team at 380 in the 10-team field.
NorthWood saw Earl Williams again golf among the leaders with a 74, tied for third in the tournament. Cooper Wiens and Jon Cripe had 78s and Ben Vincent a 90 as the top four.
Wawasee’s Brandon Tayagua led the team with a 79, followed by Aiden Jonsson at 82, Jay Finlinson at 83 and Vaugh Dyson at 87.
Triton’s Breylon Wareham and Cole McKinney each shot 81, John Gardner was one back at 82 and Bruce Johnson posted 89.
Aidan Bowell led the Warsaw orange with a 75 and Dylan Barkey and Nick Ransbottom each shot 93 for Warsaw white.
