News Release
WARSAW – Junior Achievement of Warsaw/Tippecanoe Valley hosted a cash bingo and purse bingo event on May 7-8 at Tippy Creek Winery, raising over $22,000 to support Junior Achievement.
“The events were a tremendous success. We had almost 500 people attend this year,” said Courtney Whetstone, director of Junior Achievement in Kosciusko County. “But what is even more exciting is that these funds will enable us to support over 1,300 students in 61 classes next year.”
This is the fourth year the Purse Bingo event has been held on Mother’s Day weekend at Tippecanoe Winery. This year, Junior Achievement added a Cash Bingo event on Friday night.
“We could not have done it without those who attended as well as our wonderful sponsors,” Whetstone said. “We had 46 sponsors and we are especially grateful for Orthopediatric’s being the title sponsor this year.”
Junior Achievement’s mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed. This is done by engaging community volunteers who deliver lessons that promote financial capability, work and career readiness, and business ownership. These lessons in classrooms across our community impact young people’s perceptions about the importance of education, as well as provide critical life skills.
“I have been involved with Junior Achievement for over 25 years in multiple cities; however, locally for the past 15 years. We have an amazing staff and volunteers here who truly want to see every young person in our community succeed.,” said Fred Hite, board chair for Junior Achievement of Warsaw/Tippecanoe Valley.
