Kosciusko County

Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accident:

• 11:29 p.m. Monday, May 24, North SR 15 north of West Levi Lee Road, Warsaw. Driver: Erlindo F. Umanzor, 46, Briar Ridge Circle, Warsaw. Umanzor was traveling southbound on North SR 15 in the area north of West Levi Lee Road, Warsaw, when his vehicle hit a deer. A passenger in his vehicle complained of back pain, but refused medical treatment. Damage: Up to $10,000.

Elkhart County

Officers with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:

• 2:25 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, CR 13 and SR 119, west of Goshen. Drivers: Bernard Lambright, 77, Goshen, and Douglas Weaver, 76, Nappanee. Weaver suffered abrasions to the left leg. A passenger in Weaver’s vehicle, Judy Weaver, 72, Nappanee, suffered lacerations to the right leg. Both were transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Lambright failed to yield the right of way to the Weaver vehicle, hitting the Weaver vehicle on the passenger side rear. As a result, Weaver’s vehicle went off the road and rolled onto its hood. Lambright was cited for failure to yield at intersection causing bodily injury.
• 3:35 p.m. Friday, May 21, CR 17, north of SR 120. Drivers: Shirley Conley, 70, Middlebury, Beatrice Howie, 66, Union, Mich., and Nathan Winemiller, 29, Warsaw. Conley complained of back pain but declined medical attention. Conley was stopped in the southbound left turn lane of CR 17, north of CR 120, when her vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by an unknown driver, who fled the scene. The impact caused her vehicle to hit the back of the Howie vehicle, which was then pushed into the back of Winemiller’s vehicle.

Officers with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:

• 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, CR 750W and CR 650S, Kewanna. Driver: Alyssa K. Griffith, 26, Logansport. Hit deer.
• 9:42 p.m. Monday, May 24, CR 400S, Akron. Driver: Jonathan L. Kessler, 25, Davenport, Neb. Hit deer.
• 7:35 p.m. Monday, May 24, US 31 and Monticello Road, Rochester. Driver: Karl R. Varga, 51, Mishawaka. Hit deer.
• 12:04 a.m. Sunday, May 23, West 11th Street and Pontiac Street, Rochester. Driver: Della M. Elliott, 35, Rochester. Elliott’s vehicle struck a tree.
• 9:35 p.m. Friday, May 21, East Olson Road and US 31, Rochester. Driver: Elizabeth M. Johnson, 19, Rochester. Hit deer.
