WARSAW — The Kosciusko County Solid Waste Management District’s board approved the district’s 2022 budget during a meeting on Tuesday, June 22.
Kosciusko County Recycling Depot Director Tom Ganser said the depot is estimating about $521,358 in revenue for the 2022 budget year. Ganser also said the depot will not have any capital expenditures for 2022. He noted paving work that needs completed around the depot will be internalized into this year’s budget.
Ganser also said he’s interviewed a few candidates for the depot’s vacant educator position. The interest in the position has been mostly candidates who live in Kosciusko County. However, he said the position hasn’t been a good fit for the interviewees he’s talked with.
“It’s a heck of a job,” said Ganser. “A little bit of office work, a little bit of education and we’re asking them now to do quite a bit on computers.”
In discussions with other solid waste management district directors, Ganser said several districts are even struggling to find summer help.
The board’s next meeting is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20.
