Warsaw Man Arrested For Fleeing From Officers
Staff Report
MILFORD — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after fleeing from officers in a vehicle.
Joshua Cone Jr., 40, 5573 N. Warsaw Oswego Road, Warsaw, is charged with resisting law enforcement, a level 6 felony; driving while suspended, a class A misdemeanor; and reckless driving, a class C misdemeanor.
On May 23, 2020, a Milford Police officer was on duty when he saw a vehicle traveling with no headlights or taillights visible. The officer followed the vehicle and also noticed the driver fail to complete a proper stop at a stop sign.
The officer then attempted to pull the vehicle over. According to court documents, the vehicle’s driver disregarded the officer and began speeding in an attempt to flee from law enforcement.
The vehicle was traveling at dangerously high speeds, exceeding 90 miles per hour. The vehicle also crossed an intersection with a stop sign without any attempt to stop or slow down. During the pursuit, the vehicle’s driver, later identified as Cone, exited the vehicle and began fleeing on foot.
The Milford officer attempted to catch Cone on foot. Other officers also arrived to assist with the pursuit, including a K9 unit. Officers eventually found Cone in a wooded area. It was later learned that Cone’s driver’s license was suspended and that he had a prior conviction from Noble County for driving while suspended.
Cone was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail for this case on June 23, with a $10,750 surety and cash bond.
