Wheels On Fire Smash Out Cancer Event Is Aug. 28

AKRON — An annual fundraising event for people with cancer returns Saturday, Aug. 28.
Beaver Dam United Methodist Church’s Wheels on Fire-Cancer Crusaders’ Smash Out Cancer event will be at the Akron Community Center and the town’s Pike Memorial Park.
Activities begin with a 3-on-3 basketball tournament run by Tippecanoe Valley High School head boys basketball coach Chad Patrick. Registration for that is at 3 p.m., with play to start at 4 p.m.
Entertainment starts at 5 p.m. with performances by Debra Collier’s School of Dance and several local singers.
An auction of various items starts at 7 p.m. The pie auction is 8-9 p.m. Following is the “Light Up Your Life” ceremony to honor those battling cancer and who lost their lives to it.
There will also be food available for purchase during the event, including hamburgers, cheeseburgers, Butch’s World Famous hot dogs, pork burgers, walking tacos, chips, water, pop, Gatorade and ice cream.
Proceeds will go to help those battling cancer in Kosciusko and Fulton counties.
