County Residents Injured In Elkhart County Crash

ELKHART COUNTY — A Milford man and a Warsaw couple were injured in a vehicle/motorcycle collision Saturday, July 31, at SR 15 and CR 20, north of Goshen. The collision occurred at 6:15 p.m.
Noel Sparks, 49, Milford, complained of pain to the right lower leg, but refused treatment on scene. The three passengers in his vehicle were not injured.
Bobby Burchett, 64, Warsaw, sustained a dislocated left hip, road rash and minor scrapes. A passenger, Carol Burchett, 60, Warsaw, suffered a broken left hip, left arm and hand scrapes, road rash and complained of pain to the neck. They were transported to Elkhart General Hospital.
Sparks was stopped in his 2015 Chevrolet Camaro at the intersection of SR 15 and CR 20 before proceeding westbound through the intersection. Police report there was another vehicle stopped at the intersection waiting to turn eastbound from SR 15 onto CR 20.
Burchett, who was driving a 1991 Honda GL1500A, was southbound on SR 15, and drove on the passenger side of the stopped vehicle to proceed southbound, when Sparks drove in front of the motorcycle.
Burchett’s motorcycle hit the front passenger side of Sparks’ vehicle, causing the Burchetts to be ejected from the motorcycle.
Sparks was cited at the scene for failing to yield the right of way.
