WARSAW – The property owner of a house on North Park Avenue in Warsaw is facing fines for garbage left outside of the home.
The property at 531 N. Park Ave. was among a short list of properties under review by Warsaw Code Enforcement and Hearing Officer Thomas Earhart Tuesday, Aug. 3.
The house appears to be in a state of renovation, based on some of the trash that’s accumulated along the curb. Among the items was a stack of old doors and garbage with visible large shards of glass.
Code Enforcement Officer Dana Hewitt said the property has had a history of ordinance violations, including the existing environmental nuisances found on the property.
Hewitt sought to have the property owner, Fred King, Kokomo, fined daily for the violations. Earhart agreed, but did not stipulate what kind of fine would be sought.
The house is currently vacant.
In another matter, a demolition order sought by the city against the Economy Inn, located along US 30 near Depuy Synthes, remains on hold.
The property’s representative, Hari Om, recently filed suit to block the demolition.
Economy Inn was heavily damaged more than two years ago by a windstorm. While the roof has been replaced, renovations to the interior have been slow to begin.
Om did not attend Tuesday’s meeting.
Hewitt said Om is currently in the process of attempting to sell the land.
