BYC To Benefit From First Friday Car Show
Staff Report
WARSAW — Baker Youth Club will benefit from a car show during Warsaw’s First Friday this month.
First Friday Coordinator Paula Bowman hopes to beat the number of vehicles that were entered in Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club’s show earlier this year. That would involve more than 250 vehicles, she said.
Cars, trucks and motorcycles are all welcome for the show this Friday. Registration is Friday, Aug. 6, and costs $15 per vehicle.
Funds from the show, along with those raised from a silent auction, will go to BYC, which provides after-school and summer programs to area children.
“They’re a fabulous organization,” said Bowman.
Bowman noted many items are up for selection in the silent auction, which will be in the tent by the cannon plaza on the Kosciusko County Courthouse lawn.
Those entering in the car show may bring their vehicles in via East Center Street at Lake City Bank and KeyBank or near Glam on South Buffalo Street in the city parking lot.
Those traveling in a group may stage their vehicles in the Marsh parking lot, then travel on in.
Show judging is 4-7 p.m., and awards are at 8 p.m. in the tent by the courthouse’s cannon plaza.
In addition, food from various vendors will be available and downtown shops will be open late.
Bowman also previewed upcoming First Fridays:
- Fellowship Missions is a partner for Sept. 1’s First Friday. There will be a fashion show during the event.
- On Oct. 1 during First Friday, the theme will be Art-tober, with hands-on art activities offered.
- November’s First Friday, on Nov. 5, will feature the theme Carnival of Giving. There will be a carnival, with entry to events paid for by canned good donations. St. Anne’s Episcopal Church will be one of the organizations to benefit from the donations.
- There will be a twinkle light parade during First Friday on Dec. 3, along with visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus and carriage rides.
