Area Skiers Find Success In National Tournaments

SYRACUSE – Water skiers from Cindonway Shores and Camelot Lakes spent the past three weekends competing first in the Indiana State Championships, then the AWSA Midwest Regional Championships and the AWSA National Water Ski Championships for three-event individual competition.
The WSI Cindonway skiers comprised of three generations, and nine skiers from the Bucher family won the team championship at the Indiana State Tournament. The Mishler sisters, Alexis and Julie, and Megan Warstler represented the Camelot Lake ski team in all three competitions.
Skiers from the two teams earned a total of 38 individual medals in the State Championships with 23 first place finishes. At the Midwest Regionals, these skiers earned 24 individual medals with six first place finishes. This past week at the US National Championships in Wilmington, Ill., six skiers from Cindonway and three from Camelot Lakes competed and came home with 11 individual medals.
Julie Mishler skied to a national championship first place in Girls 3 slalom and Overall. Alexis Mishler earned the silver medal in Girls 4 slalom after a runoff for first place. Michelle Bucher skied to a second place in jump, third in tricks, fifth in slalom and third overall in Womens 3 division. Jacob Bucher skied to a fifth place in slalom and overall in Boys 1 division. Don Bucher received fifth place overall in Mens 8 division.
