Fairfield 188, Elkhart 210, Wawasee 213
Fairfield claimed the trio Monday at Maxwelton, besting both Elkhart and the host Warriors.
Fairfield’s Bailey Willard matched Wawasee’s Taylor Cripe as medalist for the match with 44s. The Falcons would bring in the next-best scores with 47s from Ashlynn Yoder and Addie Mast and added a 50 from Malley Behles.
Elkhart also had a 47 from Natalie Wolfschlager to pace its effort. The Lions also saw a 50 from Savanah Crussmeyer, 56 from Haley Matsen and 57 from Natalie Edminson.
Wawasee added scores of 54 from Rylee Firestone, 56 from Morgan Reel and 59 from Delaney Delagrange.
Grace Stands Tall At Pure Michigan Invite
The Grace women’s golf team opened the 2021-22 season in style, winning the Pure Michigan Invitational by 19 strokes. The Lancers “B” team punctuated the dominant outing, finishing second overall.
The Lancer “A” team shot a score of 315, with the “B” squad finishing in 334. Aquinas (Mich.) posted a score of 340, followed by Cornerstone (Mich.) at 347 and a “B” team from Aquinas at 360.
Medalist honors went to Summer Stillson, who shot a 75 to pace the Grace “B” team. The next five individual spots all belonged to members of the Lancer “A” team, led by Carolyn Pacocha with a round of 78. Lucy Young, Grace May and Rebecca Hawes all shot 79, with Sloane Winders posting an 80.
“I think the strength of our team this year is going to be depth,” said Coach Denny Duncan. “It’s exciting to see positive results even when our top players don’t have the best day. I was especially excited to see Summer play so well.”
Abby Slabaugh (84), Abigail Fishel (87), Riley Stewart (89) and Hannah Godfrey (96) all played for the “B” team. Other finishers for Grace included Brittney Klotz (90) and Sydney Cesare (91).
The Lancers return to action on September 4 when they play at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational at Arbor Trace Golf Club in Marion.
