Outraged Parent
Dear Editor,
We, together, are not Warsaw. I do not co-parent with the government. Having to wear a mask should be a choice and not a requirement, Especially in schools!
If they can take this right away from us what else are they going to take? This decision wasn’t made unanimously, the school board knew what the outcome would be before the meeting before the parents spoke and gave their facts along with other concerns regarding the decision.
I feel that time and time again WCS has shown its true colors, which is that money speaks louder than words and actions. I myself am a former student of Warsaw and I chose to stop partaking in many extracurricular activities because of that. One thing I will say, is that when I was in school we were always taught that our voices mattered. To stand up for what we believe in. Where is that attitude now? Instead, kids are being bullied by teachers and administrators saying that if they protest they will be punished. Not allowed to play sports, not allowed to graduate, etc. These are scare tactics to make the kids follow what the board wants them to do and to leave their own beliefs behind. We were also taught that history repeats itself and it’s my fear that we are reliving some of the worst times in our nation’s past.
When will we decide enough is enough? When will we all decide to take a stand for our rights? Rights that our ancestors fought so hard for and the ones that our current soldiers are fighting to maintain? We can’t expect change without action. I’m ready to take action and stand up for myself and for my children. Are you?
