Dear Editor,

Hey out there!!! Did any of you self-indulgent, self-righteous know-it-all anti-vaxers have diphtheria, small pox, mumps, polio, scarlet fever, rubella or whooping cough when you were young’uns?

Depending upon your age, how about your parents or grandparents? Come on … raise your hand. I am going out on a limb here and guessing NO! Now some of us older folks were not so lucky, and many of us experienced these diseases and more. Many of us still have physical reminders of the devastation these “plagues” wrought. But then, thank God, penicillin was discovered. Vaccines were developed. Therapeutic medicines were created.

Now if you are among the lucky folks who benefitted from those vaccines and boosters in the past, you never had to suffer those common diseases. Your progeny will never have to suffer them. Because of those vaccines, etc., those diseases have been all but eradicated. Not until the arrival of good old COVID-19 did any of you have to experience pandemic level illnesses (if you even accepted the fact that it exists)…at least not to the degree of devastation we saw over the last year and a half — and are beginning to see again. You must think you are invincible. Well, you are not!!!

I now have to ask, since you were probably vaccinated as children, are you glowing in the dark? Do metal objects stick to you as you pass by? Have you been able to have children of your own? Have you noticed tracking devices bulging under your skin? Didn’t think so. ‘Nuff said.

We were so close to shutting down this recent evil pandemic with masks, social distancing and isolation, but just as things were looking brighter, restrictions were being lifted and the numbers of new covid cases and deaths were plunging downward, too many of you jumped the gun, ripped off your masks and declared yourselves free from the horrors of confinement. You decided enough people had solved the problem for you, and you were off the hook. Think again, Sparkie!

You, the unvaccinated, have become the vehicles for the variants of COVID to invade, evolve and become more lethal. And guess who this disease is attacking now more than before? Yep, the children who have not yet been able to receive the vaccine. We older generation folks protected you by first protecting ourselves, and now you don’t even want those beautiful, unprotected children to wear masks until they can get their shots. Way to go, freedom fighters! What fine examples you are!

By the way, as the numbers of you anti-vaxers who are opposed to not only the newest vaccines but also the vaccines of the past grow, the threat of those diseases you’ve never experienced making a comeback is not out of the question. Thanks for that.
