Kosciusko County Reports Five New COVID-19 Deaths

WARSAW — Kosciusko County has reported five new COVID-19 deaths in the past two weeks, bringing the county’s total to 134. The county has reported 11,192 positive cases.
Marshall and Wabash Counties have each reported five COVID-19 deaths since Thursday, Sept. 2. Since that date, Whitley County has reported three new deaths and Fulton County has reported one.
Locally, on the Indiana Department of Health two-metric and advisory level COVID-19 maps, Whitley County is now in the “red” category, with a 15.1% positivity rate.
IDH relies on a color-coded county map that measures percent positivity and new cases per 100,000 residents. The baseline for red is 15%.
Kosciusko County has a high community transmission rate for COVID-19, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The CDC’s website categorizes transmission rates in four levels: low, moderate, substantial, and high. The map shows that all of Indiana is in the ‘high’ category. About 94% of the United States is marked in the ‘high’ category.

More than 28,300 people in Kosciusko County have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
More than 3,188,000 Hoosiers are considered to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. According to statewide demographics, about 54% of those fully vaccinated are individuals who are 50 and older. About 53% of people fully vaccinated are female.
Statewide, the IDH website shows the number of COVID-19 deaths in Indiana rose to 14,581.
The total positive number of reported COVID-19 cases in Indiana is now at 922,320. More than 13,012,000 COVID-19 tests have been administered to Hoosiers.
Since the pandemic began, locally, Fulton County has reported 2,660 positive cases, Wabash County has reported 4,721 positive cases, and Whitley County has reported 5,111 positive cases. Marshall County has reported 7,209 positive cases, Noble County has reported 7,229 positive cases, and Elkhart County has 33,007.
In other northern Indiana counties, Lake County has 62,499 positive cases; Allen County has 52,483 positive cases; and St. Joseph County has 41,310 positive cases.
According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center, more than 670,000 people in the United States have died due to COVID-19.
