Purdue 24, Iowa 7
The upset of the weekend came in Iowa City, where Purdue swarmed the No. 2 in the country.
David Bell had a whale of a game for the Boilers (4-2), catching 11 passes for 240 and a touchdown, ripping up what was one of the top-ranked defenses in the country. Aidan O’Connell was 30-40 for 375 yards and two touchdowns in the road win.
Purdue’s defense picked up Iowa quarterback Spencer Petras four times in the game, three of those in the fourth quarter.
Michigan State 20, Indiana 15
The Hoosiers once again came up short against a highly-ranked Big Ten opponent, this time to the No. 10 Spartans in Bloomington.
After IU (2-4) got with two at 17-15 when Stephen Carr rushed in from one yard out, the Hoosiers closed its final two drives with turnovers to cap its fourth loss to a ranked opponent.
Jack Tuttle was 28-52 for 188 and two picks for the Hoosiers, who had 53 yards rushing from Carr.
Iowa State 33, Kansas State 20
Breece Hall rushed for 197 yards and added 35 receiving yards as the Cyclones picked up a quality win over Kansas State in Manhattan.
Andrew Mevis was a perfect 6-6 on kicks for Iowa State, 4-4 on field goals and his longest 44 yards.
Texas A&M 35, Missouri 14
A week after upsetting the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, A&M started red hot to knock off the Tigers in Columbia.
Isaiah Spiller torched the Mizzou defense for 168 yards rushing and a touchdown and Devon Achane added another 124 yards and two touchdowns.
Harrison Mevis had just two extra point conversions for the Tigers.
Ball State 38, Eastern Michigan 31
The Cardinals escaped Ypsilanti with a victory Saturday afternoon.
Carson Steele rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown, Justin Hall rushed for two scores and Will Jones added another rushing score for the Cardinals.
