City Office Closings Possible For Funeral Service On Monday

WARSAW — Many city offices may be closed for a few hours on Monday in observance of funeral plans for a longtime police officer.
The city issued a statement announcing offices may close temporarily on Monday, Oct. 25, between 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to allow employees to attend the funeral service and procession for Captain Clay A. Layne.
Layne, a 26-year member of the Warsaw Police Department, died after a short illness on Tuesday.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. at Warsaw Community Church, on South County Farm Road in Warsaw. Redpath-Fruth is in charge of arrangements.
A statement from Mayor Joe Thallemer’s office ended with, “We appreciate everyone’s understanding.”
