WARSAW – Renovations to the Marketplace of Warsaw shopping center will begin next year, according to the new owner.
John Murphy, chief financial officer for Sullivan Wickley, Atlanta, Ga., said the company closed on the property on Wednesday, Oct. 20.
He said the company, which specializes in redeveloping shopping centers, is in the process of finalizing a redevelopment plan for the project and are in talks with numerous national tenants. Improvements and the addition of tenants could happen simultaneously, he said.
The property will be redeveloped next year, Murphy said.
“Things will start happening and the community will start seeing meaningful positive changes to the project sometime in early 2022,” he said.
The outdoor mall is one of three along US 30 that have struggled over the years with store closings.
In recent years, the shopping center has seen Pier 1, Carson’s and Sears close its doors.
There are eight empty storefronts, many on the west side of the property.
The current lineup of stores includes Workout Anytime, Shoe Sensation, Wire and Steam Coffee, Subway, Claire’s, Bath and Body Works, Dunham Discount Sports and an Indiana BMV office.
AP Nails and Aqua Systems are around the corner on the northeast side.
The Burger King restaurant in front of the shopping center was reconstructed earlier this year and is adjacent to a Taco Bell.
The property has been owned by an LLC in care of Farbmam Group, Southfield, Mich. Details about the sale were not announced.
