Howard H. Luehrs
NORTH WEBSTER – Howard H. Luehrs, 62, of Pierceton, passed at 1:18 a.m. on Oct. 21, 2021, at his home. He was born on June 9, 1959, in Jackson, N.J., to Howard Herbert & Eleanor (Bower) Luehrs.
He graduated from Jackson High School in Jackson, N.J., Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C., and received his Masters from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He was married on June 27, 1992, in Silver Springs, Md., to Karen J.E. Earl who survives. He was formerly a biology teacher in Roxboro, NC and Hyattsville, Md., worked for the Peace Corp, Lowe’s in Warsaw, was a naturalist at Chain of Lakes State Park, and owner-operator of the Wilmot Mill.
He grew up in New Jersey and lived in North Carolina & Maryland before moving to Pierceton in 1997. He was a member of the Rock Church in Cromwell.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Luehrs, of Pierceton; two sons, Nelson (Courtney) Luehrs of Nappanee and Alan Luehrs of Texas; two sisters, Denise (Albert) Plungis of Jackson, N.J., and Debra (Michael) Waxer of Carmel, Calif., and a brother, Dan (Carol) Luehrs of Montgomery, Ala. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 North SR 15, Warsaw, IN. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28 at the Rock Church, 9564 E CR 1050N, Cromwell, Ind., with Pastor Sarah Tuttle officiating. Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 & CR 500N, North Webster, Ind., is in charge of arrangements.
