Locals Continue Crossroads Honor Roll

JACKSON, Mich. – Grace College had a pair of athletes named to the weekly Crossroads League awards, and a Warsaw grad added another honor to her season résumé.
Frey Tabbed As Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Grace volleyball player Anna Frey was selected as the Crossroads League Attacker of the Week on Monday.
Frey helped the Lady Lancers finish the regular season with a pair of critical wins, securing Grace’s spot in the CL Tournament.
She posted a double-double in Grace’s win over Spring Arbor, finishing with 15 kills, 19 digs and 3 blocks in the 3-1 win. Frey also had 11 kills on a .348 percentage in a sweep of Goshen and closed the 2-0 week with 3.7 kills, 3.9 digs and 0.6 blocks per set.
The Lady Lancers’ postseason begins this Saturday. Grace will travel to No. 21 Indiana Wesleyan for a quarterfinal matchup at 7 p.m.
Stratton Named Soccer Defensive Player Of The Week
Freshman goalkeeper Libby Stratton picked up her first award on Monday for Grace’s women’s soccer team.
Stratton was named the Crossroads League Defensive Player of the Week for the Lady Lancers. She notched four saves in a 5-0 shutout victory for No. 15 Grace over Mt. Vernon Nazarene.
The win helped Grace lock up a top-four league finish. As a result, Grace will host the quarterfinals of the CL Tournament on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Mt. Vernon Nazarene at 1st Source Bank Field.
Taylor’s Bragg Sets Up Another Setter Nod
Bragg averaged 13.0 assists, 2.2 digs and 0.7 blocks per set for No. 25 Taylor in its wins over RV Mount Vernon Nazarene and Saint Francis. The junior setter, a proud Warsaw Community High School grad, posted at least 35 assists and two blocks in each affair, tallying 39.0 assists, 6.5 digs and 2.0 blocks per outing. This is her fifth setter of the week award this season from the league.
