WARSAW — A Warsaw man will serve a four-year sentence locally after dealing heroin to an undercover officer.
Eric Warren Swick, 41, Warsaw, was charged with dealing in a narcotic drug, a level 5 felony.
Swick was sentenced in Kosciusko Circuit Court on Monday, Nov. 1.
According to court documents, in March, officers with the NET43 Drug Task Force purchased 0.3 grams of heroin from Swick.
During court proceedings, Defense Attorney Nicolas Jacobs said Swick has accepted responsibility for his actions. He requested Swick’s sentence be served through work release or community corrections.
For dealing a narcotic drug, Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge Michael Reed sentenced Swick to four years in the Kosciusko County Jail. The first two years will be executed and the final two years were suspended on formal probation. Judge Reed said he had no objection to Swick serving the executed part of his sentence through the county’s work release program.
Swick has 152 days of jail time credit in this case, with good time credit as calculated. He must also pay $50 in restitution to NET43.
