WARSAW — The Warsaw Community Public Library Board of Trustees approved a resolution to establish an American Rescue Plan Act (ARP) grant fund during a meeting on Monday, Nov. 8.
The ARP grant fund needed to be established in order for WCPL to receive money from the Indiana State Library. As directed by the State Board of Accounts, the fund must be called “ARP Grant Fund.”
According to the resolution, the grant fund is for the purpose of receiving money from the American Rescue Plan in accordance with the purpose of helping communities respond to the pandemic, as well as to address related economic and community needs through equitable approaches.
In other business, the board approved the library’s holiday leave policy. The recent addition to paid holidays on which the library is closed is Juneteenth, which was recently recognized as a federal holiday this summer.
WCPL Director Ann Zydek also informed the board of boiler issues the library has been experiencing. In mid-October, maintenance staff noticed a small amount of steam was coming from one of the boilers. Upon removing side panels from the library’s second boiler, three pinhole leaks were found in the heat tubing.
“We have one boiler that’s working at this point,” said Zydek. “At this given point, we are being cautious with what we spend for the rest of the year, which there are a couple of things we’ll encumber based on what those repair costs are.”
Prior to their regular meeting, WCPL’s board also held a public hearing for the library’s computer usage and Internet acceptable use policy. No one from the public attended the hearing and no new revisions were made to the policy. The board approved the policy during its regular meeting.
The board’s next meeting is at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13.
