UPDATE: One Injured In SR 15 Crash

MILFORD — Jovanni Garza-Pena, 21, Warsaw, sustained leg injuries after his car collided with a semitractor-trailer Wednesday morning, Dec. 15, on SR 15. Garza-Pena was flown from the scene by Lutheran Air to a Fort Wayne hospital for treatment.
The accident occurred at 11:29 a.m. on SR 15 near CR 800N, south of Milford.
Indiana State Police report Garza-Pena fell asleep while driving his Chevrolet Malibu southbound on SR 15, crossed the center line and hit a northbound semitractor-trailer, near the rear dual axles. The 2021 Freightliner was driven by Robert Robbins, 62, Mount Prospect, Ill. He was not injured.
The impact tore the exterior shell of the driver’s door off the Chevrolet and one of the outside dual tires, on the Freightliner along with damaging both rims.
Indiana State Police are investigating the crash, assisted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office. Also responding was Plain Township and Milford fire departments, Lutheran EMS and Tippecanoe Fire Territory EMS.
