Sail The Reading Ocean At Syracuse Public Library
News Release
SYRACUSE — Make a prediction of how many books you can read and join the “My Voyage Begins” adult reading challenge from Jan. 1 to Sept. 30. Your goal must be 15 or more books to qualify.
Sign up by leaving a challenge slip with your name and phone number at the Syracuse Public Library or sign up through the website. There is no penalty for missing your goal so either play it safe with an easily attainable number of books or push yourself with an optimistic goal.
Any books whether they come from the library or not can be included in the reading challenge. Audiobooks, e-books and graphic novels are welcome. Record your finished books on paper or request Katie Moran, [email protected], send you a Google Docs link to a tracking sheet. Becky Brower, [email protected], has paper reading logs available, too.
The Syracuse Public Library wants to have a party with food and prizes in October. COVID-19 got in the way in 2021, but the library offered some fabulous prize choices. Expect more great prizes in 2022.
The last day to join the reading challenge is June 30, 2022. Find cruise mates to join the voyage and take the reading challenge.
January Book Club Selection Made
The adult book club will be reading “Heritage Lost” by local author S.M. Wright in January. A fast-paced, character-driven space opera, “Heritage Lost” centers on Captain Katya Cassius as her life goes into chaos after rescuing an alien toddler. The child’s circumstances force Katya to face her own disjointed childhood, forever shaped by a global war.
Discussions will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, via Zoom and at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, in person at the library. The author will join both discussions.
Contact Brower for information or a Zoom invitation at [email protected]. Copies of the novel are available at the library.
Teen Gaming
Join the library on the first Thursday of each month for teen gaming. In January, teens are encouraged to swing by to game from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6.
