Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 12:35 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, East Pierceton Road, west of East Washington Road, Pierceton. Driver: Justine Megething, 55, Oldfather Street, Warsaw. Megething was traveling west on Pierceton Road when several deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
- 8:46 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, South CR 600W, south of South SR 25, Mentone. Driver: October S. Rasmussen, 41, North Poplar Street, Silver Lake. Rasmussen was traveling north on South CR 600W when her vehicle hit a patch of ice, resulting in her vehicle leaving the roadway and rolling onto its top. A passenger in Rasmussen’s vehicle, Samantha S. Slone, 18, Columbia City, complained of neck pain. A second passenger in Rasmussen’s vehicle, Lanti H. Stump, 40, Mentone, complained of pain to her knee, lower leg and foot area. Both Slone and Stump declined treatment at the scene. Damage up to $10,000.
- 6:05 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, East CR 200N, east of North SR 13, Pierceton. Driver: Thor O. Janda, 17, West CR 800N, Larwill. Janda was traveling east on East CR 200N when his vehicle hit a patch of ice on the roadway. This caused his vehicle to leave the roadway and go through a chain link fence before eventually rolling onto its top. No injuries were reported at the scene. Damage up to $25,000.
- 5:50 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, East CR 1400N, east of North Warner Road, Syracuse. Driver: Deborah M. Miller, 68, South County Line Road, Syracuse. Miller was traveling west on East CR 1400N when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
- 12:55 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, South SR 15, south of West CR 800S, Claypool. Driver: Johl I. Jones, 17, South CR 600E, North Manchester. Jones was traveling north on SR 15 when his vehicle hit a patch of black ice. This caused his vehicle to leave the roadway and overturn. Jones sustained a minor head injury and was checked by medics at the scene. Damage up to $10,000.
- 9:08 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, South SR 25, north of West CR 250S, Warsaw. Driver: Adrian J. Kistner, 22, West Partridge Drive, Mentone. Kistner was traveling south on SR 25 when his vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree. No injuries were reported in the accident and Kistner’s vehicle was towed from the scene. Damage up to $10,000.
- 6:42 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, South CR 50W, north of West CR 550S, Claypool. Driver: Cheyenne N. Bradley, 29, North CR 175E, Warsaw. Bradley was traveling south on South CR 50W when a deer entered the roadway and hit her vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
- 5:47 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, South CR 275E, north of East CR 375S, Warsaw. Driver: Thurman L. Eubank, 79, West 4th Street 43, North Manchester. Eubank was traveling south on South CR 275E when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
- 10:10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, North SR 15, south of West Levi Lee Road, Warsaw. Driver: Corey D. Birk, 34, Turkey Creek Drive, Milford. Birk was traveling north on North SR 15 when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
- 6:48 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 151 EMS C27C Lane, Warsaw. Driver: Courtney M. Feeny, 32, North Bird View Drive, Warsaw. Feeny was traveling south on EMS C27C Lane when her vehicle left the roadway and became stuck in a yard. Damage up to $5,000.
- 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, East 8 Square Road, west of North CR 175E, Warsaw. Driver: Damian J. Gibson, 20, EMS B33A Lane, Warsaw. Gibson’s vehicle left the road, hitting a fence and tree. Damage up to $5,000.
Silver Lake
Officers with the Silver Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, West CR 900S, south of South CR 200W, Silver Lake. Drivers: Darrell Z. Anderson, 59, Columbia Street, South Whitley; and Tabitha L. Shelhart, 38, South CR 200W, Silver Lake. Anderson was approaching a hill before an intersection when his vehicle was unable to stop at a stop sign. He hit Shelhart’s vehicle. Shelhart complained of slight neck pain but refused treatment at the scene. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 1:57 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, North SR 15, south of Gilliam Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Stanley A. Stutzman, 71, East Levi Lee Road, Warsaw; and Charles L. Bailey, 56, West CR 1275S, Akron. Stutzman was traveling across the northbound lanes after leaving a business when he was hit by Bailey’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
- 10:34 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 881 N. Lake St., Warsaw. Driver: Alexa N. Mansfield, 19, Cardinal Drive, Warsaw. Mansfield was traveling on North Lake Street when her vehicle hit a curb and small tree. Damage up to $5,000.
- 12:18 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2211 E. Center St., Warsaw. Driver: Lisa R. Patterson, 62, South Walnut Street, Mentone. Patterson was attempting to turn in a south aisle of a parking lot when she hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
- 4:28 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, North Harrison Street, south of East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Driver: Esther I. Gibbs, 67, South Bruner Road, Warsaw. Larry D. Hursell, Warsaw, said he was preparing to pull his vehicle from a parking lot when he witnessed Gibbs’ vehicle hit a large rock in a parking lot landscape near Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Stephanie L. Nelson, Leesburg, pulled her vehicle over to assist. Gibbs did not have a pulse and Nelson administered CPR. AutoPulse was also deployed but was unsuccessful. Gibbs was pronounced deceased at the scene by the county coroner. Damage up to $10,000.
- 7:06 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, East US 30, near Meijer Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Calvin J. Wheeler, 93, North 26th Street, Sheboygan, Wis.; and Tabita N. Crisan, 24, North Maplewood Avenue, Chicago, Ill. Wheeler was traveling east on East US 30 when he rear-ended Crisan’s vehicle. Wheeler said he was having vehicle problems and was unsure what happened. Crisan complained of ankle pain and requested treatment at the scene. Damage up to $50,000.
- 3:04 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, East Center Street, east of North Bronson Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Gretel J. Peters, 42, East Smith Street, Warsaw; and Christopher B. Perry, 47, Wild Rose Road, New Paris. Peters was attempting to make a right turn off of Bronson Street when she slid into Perry’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
