A Pound Of Edible Cannabis Products Discovered In Traffic Stop
Staff Report
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested after a traffic stop resulted in the discovery of one pound of edible cannabis products.
William Lee Spore, 40, 1408 N. Long Drive, Syracuse, is charged with resisting law enforcement and possession of marijuana – enhancement, both level 6 felonies; and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.
On Dec. 21, a Warsaw Police officer saw a vehicle fail to signal 200 feet prior to a turn onto Union Street. The vehicle then drove into the opposing traffic lane, indicating it was turning onto West Jefferson Street.
According to court documents, when the officer attempted to pull the driver over, the vehicle accelerated and drove three blocks before pulling over at an intersection. The officer identified the driver as Spore.
When asked why he failed to promptly stop, Spore said he had a warrant out for his arrest. A computer check indicated Spore had an active felony arrest warrant from Elkhart County.
The officer reported he could smell marijuana coming from inside Spore’s vehicle. While searching the vehicle, officers found about an ounce of marijuana and a pound of edible cannabis products.
Spore admitted that the marijuana was his. He has a previous conviction for marijuana possession in Noble County.
Spore has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance. He has an initial hearing at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, in Kosciusko Superior Court Three.
