WARSAW – Warsaw Police and the community are remembering Drake Price, a youth who became enamored with police work and became an honorary police officer.
The 16-year-old struggled with cancer for about five years and died at home surrounded by family, according to a pending obituary with Titus Funeral Home.
“His family is heartbroken,” the family conveyed in the pending notice.
Condolences poured in on the Drake Strong Facebook page.
Drake was a huge fan of police and collected thousands of police badges.
In 2019, U.S. Sen. Todd Young presented Drake with a police patch from the U.S. Capitol Police.
Drake developed a close tie to Warsaw police and stood with them when the department experienced two deaths in the department.
In February of 2020, Drake donated a teddy bear wearing a #DrakeStrong shirt for display as part of Officer Jason Dobbins’ commission outside the PD after Dobbins passed away.
In October, Drake stood at attention and saluted the funeral procession for Officer Clay Layne.
“We have had the honor of standing with him during some hard struggles, but yesterday, he was able to stand with us through our struggle,” WPD shared at the time.
