Man Accused Of Filming Naked Child
Staff Report
WARSAW — A man was recently arrested after allegedly recording a child in various states of undress.
Robyn Garcia, 22, Grabill, is charged with three counts of child exploitation, all level 5 felonies; and two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of voyeurism, all level 6 felonies.
On Nov. 15, 2021, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a report of child exploitation. An unnamed individual said a child found a cellphone recording in a closet earlier in the morning while they were getting dressed after taking a shower. The phone was turned over to the Warsaw Police Department as evidence.
Two days later, the child provided a forensic interview at Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center and told officials that on Nov. 15, 2021, they took a shower and walked into a room to get dressed. After taking their towel off and getting dressed, the child noticed a phone was propped up in a closet, recording a video. The child stopped the video and immediately deleted the recording. They also deleted it from the phone’s recently deleted album.
According to court documents, the child described seeing a video from Nov. 15, 2021, where Garcia is setting the phone up to complete the recording initially; they then saw themselves in the video fully nude while getting dressed. The child hid the phone so Garcia couldn’t find it and left the area. During the interview, the child said once they left, Garcia contacted them and asked them not to report him and to return the phone. The child reported what occurred to local school officials.
A search warrant for Garcia’s phone was obtained and allegedly included a video of the child in a bathroom on Nov. 9, 2021, using the restroom. A video file created on Nov. 10, 2021, also shows the child in a state of full nudity, preparing to shower. A third video file was created on Nov. 10, 2021, that shows the child fully nude.
The detective also received copies of the text conversation between the child and Garcia on Nov. 15, 2021. During the conversation, Garcia asked for the phone to be returned, provided the phone’s access code to delete files, and asked for the child to not report the incident.
Garcia was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Jan. 6, 2022, with a $20,250 surety and cash bond.
