New Children’s Programming At Syracuse Public Library

SYRACUSE — Children’s programming resumes in the new year with a brand new story time Wednesdays. Wacky and Wiggly Storytime begins at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, and promises to be a messy fun time filled with good stories. Children joining Wednesday story times should dress accordingly.
A relaxed story time and the homeschool program resume at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14. Planned home-schooling topics include “Walk in the Shoes of Martin Luther King Jr., Jan. 14, “Explore Earth’s Atmosphere,” Jan. 21, and “Celebrate the Chinese New Year,” Jan. 28.
While attending programs, children are also encouraged to check out the new “I Spy” display, complete the scavenger hunt or grab a take-and-make craft kit.
Game On
After a holiday break, mahjong returns at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10. It will then meet weekly Mondays with players of all skill levels encouraged to join the action in the downstairs meeting room.
“Dungeons and Dragons” also meets Mondays from 2-5:30 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room.
Post-Holidays Decluttering
Join the library’s Decluttering Support Group at noon Thursday, Jan. 13, in the downstairs meeting room to gain encouragement for post-holiday decluttering efforts. Meetings are judgment-free and confidential, with the door closing shortly after the start time.
The Workshop Meets
Adults with a writing itch should bring their pieces or questions to The Workshop, the Syracuse Public Library’s adult writing group. The group meets at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, in the downstairs meeting room.
