Kosciusko County Reports Five New COVID-19 Deaths

WARSAW — Since Feb. 3, Kosciusko County has reported five new COVID-19 deaths. This brings the county to 216 COVID-19 deaths and 19,477 positive cases.
Wabash and Whitley Counties have each recently reported one new death. This brings Wabash County to 145 deaths and 8,581 positive cases. Whitley County has reported 75 deaths and 9,563 positive cases.
All counties in Indiana but four remain in the “red” category on the Indiana Department of Health’s color-coded COVID-19 map. This map measures percent positivity and new cases per 100,000 residents, with the baseline for red being 15%.
Locally, Kosciusko County and all surrounding counties’ positivity rates have decreased. Marshall, Fulton, and Wabash County’s positivity rates have decreased to 19.2%, 22.9%, and 24.8%, respectively. Kosciusko, Elkhart, and Whitley County’s positivity rates have decreased to 25.5%, 26.4% and 26.5%.
More than 32,100 people in Kosciusko County have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
More than 3,663,000 Hoosiers are considered to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. According to statewide demographics, about 50% of those fully vaccinated are individuals who are 50 and older. About 53% of people fully vaccinated are female.
Statewide, the IDH website shows the number of COVID-19 deaths in Indiana rose to 21,298.
The total positive number of reported COVID-19 cases in Indiana is now at 1,664,353. More than 18,617,000 COVID-19 tests have been administered to Hoosiers.
Since the pandemic began, locally, Fulton County has reported 4,805 positive cases. Marshall County has reported 12,190 positive cases, Noble County has reported 12,896 positive cases, and Elkhart County has reported 53,514.
In other northern Indiana counties, Lake County has 104,771 positive cases; Allen County has 102,357 positive cases; and St. Joseph County has 69,601 positive cases.
According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center, about 915,000 people in the United States have died of COVID-19.
