WARSAW – Ivy Tech Community College’s Warsaw site recently purchased a $30,000 tractor for maintenance needs with the help of the Kosciusko County Community Foundation.

The campus is situated on a 30-acre property and needs heavy machinery to properly take care of the lawn in the spring, summer, and fall and snow removal in the winter.

Ivy Tech shouldered the majority of the tractor’s cost, but was generously granted $10,000 from the Kosciusko County Community Foundation.

“Purchasing a heavy-duty mower may not seem like a big deal to some people, but to us at Ivy Tech it’s critically important,” said Allyn Decker, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor of Ivy Tech Warsaw. “We need to be good stewards of our property so we can create an attractive, safe, and healthy environment for faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Being able to do our own mowing and snow removal around building perimeters helps us respond quickly and save money by doing the work ourselves. Jeff Prater, our facilities supervisor, takes great pride in keeping all our facilities in excellent condition. We are incredibly grateful to the community foundation for helping us make this important purchase.”
