Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 3:49 a.m. Sunday, March 20, North SR 13, north of North Syracuse Webster Road, North Webster. Driver: Amy M. Pavel, 25, West Huntington Street, North Webster. Pavel’s vehicle hit a pedestrian, killing him. She said she tried to stop, but was unable to in time. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 9:17 p.m. Saturday, March 19, North SR 19, south of West CR 1350N, Nappanee. Driver: Rafael Garcia Carrillo, 57, Nooksack Road, Everson, Wash. Garcia Carrillo’s vehicle left the roadway and hit a ditch. He was later arrested for driving while intoxicated. Damage: Under $750.
- 8:51 p.m. Saturday, March 19, South SR 15, south of West SR 14, Silver Lake. Driver: Richard A. Todd, 34, Fellowship Drive, North Manchester. Todd’s vehicle hit a raccoon. Damage: Up to $2,500.
Claypool
Officers with the Claypool Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 7:59 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, South CR 200W, north of West CR 700S, Claypool. Driver: Eric A. Secrist, 48, South Smalley Lane, Claypool. Secrist’s vehicle veered off the roadway and hit a mailbox before driving on. Police arrested him for operating while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Damage: Up to $2,500.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 4:12 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 209 E. Bowser Road, north of South Harkless Drive, Syracuse. Driver: Donald J. Schlabach, 56, North CR 900W, Cromwell. Schlabach’s vehicle hit a parked vehicle. Damage: Under $750.
- 2:57 p.m. Sunday, March 20, West Railroad Drive, west of South Huntington Street, Syracuse. Drivers: Ryleigh G. Cole, 17, East Carroll Street, Syracuse; Felicity A. Clawson, 20, West Wayne Street, Pierceton; and Mary S. Leach, 46, West US 30, Larwill. Cole had called her sister on her cellphone before the accident occurred. Her vehicle hit Clawson’s, which then hit Leach’s. Damage: Up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 9:45 p.m. Saturday, March 19, South Bronson Street and East Market Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Unknown; and Yaira Nunez-Rico, 19, South Meadow Drive, Warsaw. An unknown vehicle hit Nunez-Rico’s vehicle and left the scene. Nunez-Rico was checked out by medics on scene. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 3:22 p.m. Saturday, March 19, North SR 15 and East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Unknown; and Kimberly M. Kelley, 43, North Ashford Court, Warsaw. An unknown vehicle collided with Kelley’s. The unknown driver left the scene. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 1:21 p.m. Saturday, March 19, US 30 and CR 150W, Warsaw. Drivers: Patsy A. Spranger, 66, EMS W23C Lane, North Webster; Michael J. Samuels, 66, West Lakeview Park Drive, Warsaw; and Brian R. Coke, 47, Yoder Road, Yoder. Spranger attempted to stop her vehicle for a traffic light, but her brakes failed. Her vehicle then hit Samuels’ and Coke’s vehicles. Spranger was taken to the hospital for further evaluation of a scrape on her chest. Samuels complained of shoulder pain, but wasn’t taken to the hospital. Damage: Up to $25,000.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 1:33 p.m. Friday, March 18, South McKinley Street and East Jefferson Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Baylie J. Plank, 19, Highway 160 East, Henryville; and Tiffany N. Tackett, 31, Apple Road, Bourbon. Plank’s vehicle hit Tackett’s. Two children in Tackett’s vehicle were checked out on scene for stomach pain. Damage: Up to $5,000.
