WARSAW — Creating custom apparel started as a hobby in 2014 for Quinisha Williams, but that has since changed.
“I ended up being really good at it and I went from making little birthday outfits and then I got into laser-engraving and cutting and I just tried different things and this is what I decided to continue the business in,” she said.
The Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce had a ribbon-cutting for her business, Visions of Q Studio, on Friday, April 1. Q is Williams’ nickname.
The company at 404 S. High St., Warsaw, offers several processes for printing designs on T-shirts, socks, tumblers and more, including screen printing, sublimation, whereby inks are heated to be put on fabric, and DTF printing in which designs are applied using a heat press.
She notes the latter, which she calls Vividqolor printing, has advantages.
“You can do unlimited colors, so we don’t have to spot color,” she said. “You don’t have to worry about it cracking, peeling. You can stretch it.”
Williams can create a design for customers or they can provide her with a graphic. She has two employees helping her.
“I want to provide the community with a place to come and get professional printing even for personal use,” she said.
“We do not do craft printing unless I’m asked to do it, for example, using vinyl,” she added. “I want to provide everybody with the opportunity to get professional-grade printing without having to pay high minimum costs.”
She plans to add embroidery in the future.
“It’ll be a one-stop-shop for all your custom apparel needs,” she said.
The Warsaw address isn’t the first place that Williams has operated the business out of. Her previous location was at Coppes Commons in Nappanee, but the COVID-19 pandemic caused her to move to working from home.
She’s been at the High Street location for almost a year now.
Williams notes that if people purchase from the shop, they’re supporting a veteran-run business. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps for about nine years.
The business will be open 3:30-6:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday and noon-7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. People may also call 574-347-4363, email [email protected] or visit visionsofqstudio.com.
