MENTONE — Tippecanoe Valley High School business teacher Aaron Engbrecht has been selected as Tippecanoe Valley School Corp.’s Teacher of the Year.
The honor was announced at the TVSC Board’s regular meeting on Monday, April 18, at Mentone Elementary School.
The school corporation annually honors one educator from its four main buildings and selects one overall teacher from amongst them. The winner can then compete for the state Teacher of the Year designation.
Engbrecht was chosen over Tippecanoe Valley Middle School’s Cathy Olson, Akron Elementary School’s Susan Walker and Mentone’s Alisa Baker. Those working to decide on the Teacher of the Year award this year included a panel of TVSC staff members, a school board member and a community member.
During the meeting, a video highlighted the four honorees.
One of the people who talked about Engbrecht in it was TVHS Principal Brandon Kresca.
“Mr. Engbrecht is a true professional that does whatever it takes for his students,” he said. “Mr E. is not only a teacher, but a rock-star educator. Thank you, Mr. E., for teaching at Tippecanoe Valley High School.”
All four teachers received plaques with Engbrecht receiving an additional plaque and decorative apple.
