Claypool Man Arrested For Domestic Battery
Staff Report
WARSAW — A Claypool man was recently arrested after allegedly battering and threatening a woman.
Eric Ray Hall, 29, 2027 E. 800S, Claypool, is charged with strangulation and intimidation, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Jan. 31, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy received a welfare check request. An individual asked officers to check on a woman who had been texting her and saying that Hall was physically abusive. The deputy went to Hall’s home but did not find anyone there at that time.
He then met with the person who requested a welfare check at a local church. The person said she took the woman to her home. The deputy spoke with the woman over the phone and confirmed she wanted to pursue charges against Hall. The deputy then went to speak with the woman about the incident.
According to court documents, the woman said Hall had been angry throughout the day and that he became verbally abusive. He allegedly grabbed the woman by her shirt collar, grabbed her neck and hair, pinned her down, and spit on her. The woman left the home on foot and Hall followed her in his vehicle.
He threatened to harm one of the woman’s relatives if she didn’t get into his vehicle. The woman got into his vehicle and Hall drove her to her residence. Once there, Hall grabbed the woman by the neck and pinned her against the vehicle. He eventually let her go and left the scene. The deputy noticed scratches and redness on the front of the woman’s neck.
Hall was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on April 22, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
