Lightning Strike Believed To Cause Minor Fire Outside Pierceton

WARSAW — A lightning strike on Saturday morning, May 21, is to believed to have caused a small fire at a home outside Pierceton.
First responders were called to 4419 E. 500 S., Warsaw, southwest of Pierceton, shortly before 9 a.m. on Saturday for the fire.
“It appears there might have been a minor lightning strike on the phone system that started a little bit of insulation on fire in the basement. Nothing major,” said Pierceton fire department Capt. Joe Lardino.
He said the homeowner actually was able to put the fire out before firefighters responded to the scene. No one was injured.
Sidney fire department was also called out to the scene before the extent of the fire was known, said Lardino.
According to Kosciusko County Beacon GIS, the home belongs to Brian C. Parker.
