WARSAW — A man currently serving time for dealing drugs in Elkhart County was sentenced in a Kosciusko County methamphetamine case.
Danny Joe Garman, 47, Pendleton, was charged with dealing methamphetamine, a level 4 felony. A methamphetamine possession charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Garman was sentenced by Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge Michael Reed on Friday, June 3. He appeared virtually via Zoom for plea acceptance and sentencing, as he’s currently incarcerated in the Correctional Industrial Facility in Pendleton.
On Sept. 25, 2019, the NET43 Drug Task Force made a controlled purchase of 68 grams of methamphetamine from Garman.
During court proceedings, Defense Attorney Nick Jacobs said Garman is currently serving a 26-year sentence in prison for a Level 2 dealing methamphetamine charge, which stems from Elkhart County. Six years of the Elkhart County sentence were suspended on formal probation.
Jacobs requested the court suspend the entirety of Garman’s Kosciusko County sentence since he’s already serving a substantial amount of time.
For dealing methamphetamine, Judge Reed sentenced Garman to six years in DoC. The entirety of the sentence was suspended on probation and will be served consecutively to the Elkhart County case.
Garman must also pay $800 in restitution to NET43.
