Pierceton Woman Arrested On Seven Criminal Charges
Staff Report
WARSAW — A Pierceton woman was arrested after allegedly throwing a rock at her boyfriend and breaking two windows.
Karra Suzanne Stevens, 31, 721 S. 450E, Pierceton, is charged with domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury and residential entry, both level 6 felonies; domestic battery, criminal mischief, resisting law enforcement, and interference with the reporting of a crime, all class A misdemeanors; and public intoxication, a class B misdemeanor.
On May 20, Warsaw Police officers went to a residence regarding a report of an unwanted person. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with a man who said he lived there with a roommate. He informed officers that Stevens, the roommate’s girlfriend, had also resided there for the last two to three weeks.
According to court documents, the man said he was asleep when Stevens began stomping and yelling in the residence. Shortly after, the roommate told the man that Stevens broke a window. When the man attempted to call 911, Stevens allegedly took the man’s phone and left the home.
The man told officers he wanted Stevens trespassed from the residence. He said the window would cost about $3,000 to replace. Officers concluded the investigation at that time and left the home.
That same day, officers were dispatched back to the same home, as Stevens had returned to the area. Upon officers’ arrival at the scene, a vehicle left the area. Stevens’ boyfriend told officers that Stevens left in the vehicle after battering him and breaking another window.
Officers pursued the vehicle and pulled it over. As officers approached, Stevens exited the vehicle and attempted to flee from officers on foot. She also physically resisted arrest.
While interacting with Stevens, officers noticed the odor of an alcoholic beverage. A breath sample from Stevens registered .085. Stevens also kept asking officers to call her parents and take her home.
The man told officers that Stevens returned to the home and made entry through the window she previously broke. After gaining entry, she ran through the house yelling. Stevens then entered a garage, grabbed a cane, and struck the window of a parked vehicle, shattering the window.
When her boyfriend followed her, Stevens picked up a rock and threw it at him, striking him in the forearm. Officers noticed the boyfriend had a cut on his forearm.
Stevens has already been arrested and released on her own recognizance. She has an initial hearing at 11 a.m. Monday, June 20, in Kosciusko Superior Court One.
