Storms Possible Today Ahead Of Heat Wave

WARSAW – Temperatures are heating up on Monday, June 13, which could spark some turbulent weather this afternoon and tonight across much of north-central Indiana.
Today’s high will be 88 ahead of high temps on Tuesday and Wednesday in the upper 90s. Heat index values could be as high as 98, according to the National Weather Service in North Webster.
There is a slight risk of severe storms across the area on Monday. The main threat will be damaging winds, the weather service said.
Any thunderstorms that do develop may have heavy downpours and cause localized flooding. An isolated tornado and small hail are also possible, the weather service said.
An excessive heat watch is in effect for the area through Wednesday evening.
Tuesday will be sunny and hot, with a high near 98. Heat index values could reach 111. The low will fall to 76.
