Six Fire Departments Respond To Silver Lake Fire

SILVER LAKE — Six fire departments responded to a house fire outside Silver Lake on Friday, June 17.
Firefighters responded to the fire at 1724 E. 1300S, Silver Lake, at 4:30 p.m. Friday, said Silver Lake Fire Chief John Conley.
It took firefighters almost two and a half hours to get the fire under control. Winds complicated firefighting efforts, said Conley.
He added that the cause of the fire is undetermined at this point. Nobody was injured in it.
The home and its attached garage are a total loss, he said. The American Red Cross has been contacted to help the family who lives there, a couple and their two teenagers.
Silver Lake was assisted at the scene by Sidney Fire Department as well as Urbana, North Manchester, Chester Township and Pleasant Township fire departments from Wabash County. Also responding to the scene were the Claypool and North Manchester police departments, Parkview EMS and Kosciusko REMC.
